With the summer heat on us again, who doesn’t dream of having cool home interiors where one can find refuge from the sun’s warmth? I’m pretty sure a lot of homes in the tropics have their air-conditioning units turned on especially on warm afternoons. During our recent stay in a condo unit in an urban setting, the weather was really hot thus we had no choice but to turn on the A/C when we take our nap in the afternoons.

When we got our electric bill the next month, we noticed the increase, thus we decided to tone down our use of the A/C and use the electric fan as much as possible. We also decided to sleep in the living room which is cooler than the bedroom during afternoons.

I think the living room should have a ceiling fan, a white Savoy house Lawrenceville ceiling fan would do (photo above), as it provides a lot of air cooling to a larger area in a room compared to a stand fan or desk fan. This is why I’m also thinking of getting a ceiling fan for my room, it eliminates the need for oscillating stand fans and its air cooling covers the whole room as well. Aside from that, it is also a good lighting centrepiece.
