Here’s some promising news in the medical world. Just a simple urine test might be all that’s needed to help diagnose colon cancer. A team of researchers at the University of North Carolina are studying urine samples from 123 people (60 subjects with colon cancer and 63 without) to determine the differences in composition and they have identified 16 cancer-causing substances in the samples. The researchers seriously consider that the chemicals found in the urine samples can positively aid in detecting cancer-causing substances that could lead to colon cancer.
I hope the study would result to an alternative screening test to diagnose colon cancer. For now, colonoscopy is the method hospitals are currently using, where the colon is examined with a fiber optic camera on a flexible tube which is passed through the anus. Yes, it sure is uncomfortable and even painful for some. My mom had gone through this test before and I’m just thankful that she was brave enough for that. Aside from the discomfort of the procedure, colonoscopy is also an expensive test and is very time-consuming.
For those who are health-conscious, they focus more on food supplements for the colon or following a regular colon cleansing program. Just a word of advice, do a lot of research when deciding on which colon cleansing product to use. Read up on colonix reviews or browse for leading colon cleanse products available in the market nowadays. The colon is part of the large intestine and works in removing water from the digested food, then moves the stool or the remaining material from the rectum to the anus. Well, this sounds too medical but that just goes to show how important the function of the colon is in our body’s waste management.
