I’ve seen a TV ad for a multivitamins about a mom going back to school, armed with books in hand, walking in the direction of a big modern university building with many students along the halls. Well, I can actually tell her to make her life a lot simpler by going to an online university, right? If you’re a busy mom with kids to take care of, and some domestic chores to attend to, getting an online degree is the best option. After all, you can study at your own pace, anytime and any place as long as there’s an Internet connection. You can even do your reports in a favorite coffee shop that offers free WiFi.
So, why is there a need to study again? For a lot of reasons, such as career development or increasing one’s earning potential. Based on research, those with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees command higher salary rates than those with High School diploma.
When searching for online degree programs, it’s best to do a comparison while considering quality, tuition rates and accreditation. A good option would be Western Governors University (WGU) which is the “best relatively cheap university you’ve never heard of” as mentioned in Time magazine.
This non-profit online university is fully accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). WGU offers affordable Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in its Teachers College, College of Business, College of Information Technology, and College of Health Professions.
