I was chatting with a friend last week when she suddenly asked me if I received an email from PayPal. I didn’t receive any email from them but I asked her what’s the email about, sensing something was wrong.
She pasted the content. I asked her from what email address it was sent from. Right there and then I knew it was clearly a scam. They asked her to fill out an information requiring her bank account information including the full account number to which my innocent friend gladly filled up and sent them. Ouch!!! As you know, her money can be all wiped out easily and promptly by the scammer because she gave out confidential information. My husband immediately suggested that she call her bank and ask them to block her account.
We saved our friend from what could be a great loss! Maybe the scammer was still asleep when my friend sent her reply email or maybe he was still in shock that he actually fooled someone so he hasn’t yet used the money for his own good . Though my friend was able to block her account, she spent about $20 for that. Not that big compared to what the scammer could have taken from her, but still it’s MONEY she worked hard for! She could have used it to pay for a Frisco Dentist or buy toys for her son. You know what I mean.
So please, please… beware of scam mails! Don’t give out your passwords and bank account information to anyone!
My husband said that if I made that same mistake as my friend did, he would have to ban me from using the internet for life! Hehehee
Anyway, here’s the email she got:
