Have you taken care of an old person?

When my grandmother was discharged from the hotel after a stroke, she was bedridden and wasn’t able to do things for herself. At home, we took turns in taking of her and her needs. We turn her over from one side to another from time to time to avoid getting blisters in her skin. That was difficult coz she’s a big woman and she was heavy to lift up or roll. Her food has to be pureed and injected through a tube that goes all the way to her stomach. She also has to use incontinence products so she doesn’t need to get up to go to the toilet. It was hard work compared to taking care of a little child but we didn’t mind at all. We love our grandmother and we were just happy to have helped her through her difficult times and be there with her. The doctor said that she wouldn’t last long, maybe a month but she lived for 9 more months! And I think that’s because she was surrounded with the people she loves and loves her too.
