If you’re fond of posting pictures in your blog or personal website, chances are you have your pictures stored online in free photo sharing sites such as Flickr, Picasa Web Albums or Photobucket. Since Flickr is now owned by Yahoo!, Yahoo! users can easily use and upload digital images in Flickr using their Yahoo! ID. Because I am a Yahoo! user myself, I automatically have my pictures stored in Flickr.

But as I was uploading, saving and adding more and more pictures, I found out that Flickr allows their users to store only 200 digital photos for free. Once you’ve reached the maximum, you have to upgrade your account so others can still view your photos. Several of my accounts have already reached this limit and I didn’t upgrade at all. Instead I opened an account in another photo sharing website – the Photobucket. This site is much better compared to Flickr coz it hosts up to 10,000 photos and not only that, it can also host videos! You can also create slideshows with music, special effects and more. Well, I haven’t yet uploaded a video in my Photobucket account, as I have YouTube for that.

As for Picasa, I personally haven’t used it but according to my husband who patronizes the site, he says that its application is user-friendly because you can easily upload pictures directly to your online account. You can also set-up the sharing privacy for public or friends only. They offer 1GB of files stored for free for each account.

While uploading pictures in one of my Flickr accounts, I’ve noticed that they also host video sharing just recently with these limits – 90 seconds long and 150MB file size.
